Live recordings of James McMurtry are few and far between - he doesn't usually allow tapings at his shows - so once one comes along it's best to grab it while you can. Here's one from 2002, assuming it's from the tour promoting his Saint Mary of the Woods album. I've got a couple shows I'm upping that I'll post in the next week, until this give this one a listen.

The Lot Lizards (Patterson Hood pre-DBT)

Our good friend Sloan Simpson threw this rare set from Patterson Hood's pre-DBT outfit The Lot Lizards (featuring members of the Possibilites) on, and although this interrupts the Bottle Rockets series I felt it had to be brought to ya'll's attention.
Great piece of musical history here, I believe it was the first Lot Lizards show, featuring early versions of DBT songs.

Free Music!

Sorry about the hiatus... been busy...

Since I wrote this weeks 3dd Artist of the Week feature on the criminally underrated Richmond Fontaine, I figured I'd pass along that they have a free live EP available on their bandcamp page. Check it out, it's a great oldie set from 1999 - quality is top notch.

Also I'm sure you all know Kelly Kneiser from Glossary has a free ep available for download here. If you don't already have Glossary's The Better Angels of Our Nature and Joey Kneiser's All Night Bedroom Revival pick them up while you're at it.

Blaze Foley - The Unreleased Muscle Shoals Album

There's little chance of this album getting released anytime soon - thanks to the master tapes being confiscated in a drug bust on the executive producer of the label -

It was recorded in Muscle Shoals during the early 80's and only a few copies were pressed that Blaze passed around. It's a fine album, but for a more definitive idea of Blaze you should pick up Live At The Austin Outhouse
